Women

Sessions

The women's sessions are held Mondays 8-9pm and Thursdays 10-11am.

The Monday evening session is purely social and involves game time followed by some social time in the bar (which is optional). All levels are welcome.

The Thursday session is normally a mix of training drills and then game time. It's the ideal time to learn new skills and then put them into practice. All levels are welcome.

Competition

The women currently have two teams (The Panthers and The Cobras) competing in the Thames Valley Walking Football League over 40s and two teams (The Eagles and The Hawks) the Herts League over 40s.

There is also plenty of other recreational tournaments and fun festivals that we compete in. Over the last 3 years we have also competed in Spain, Cyprus and Portugal.

Mixed

The mixed session is held on Thursdays 11am-12pm.

This is the ideal time for our more experienced women to play alongside or against the men. The sessions are fairly competitive. Sometimes we have girls versus boys and it gives both teams a healthy challenge.

Walking football has been amazing for me. I have met so many lovely people and it's become a big and important part of my life. I never thought at my age I would be playing football but I am fitter and love it.

Having had a successful career in semi pro football and 15 years in Vets football the ravages of time caught up with me and I was advised by a knee surgeon to stop so much impact work on my knee. I was devastated at the time but was lucky to have had such an extended career.  I was introduced to Cheshunt Walking Football where I have been able to rejoin one of my former clubs and enjoy the competitive spirit of leagues and tournament football.  It has been wonderful to meet, play and socialise with a great group of friends and players.

I joined Cheshunt WFC in April 2021 lockdown had just ended and I thought I would give it go. I needed an outlet as had been through a difficult time in my life with my wife leaving & lockdown. I had played football before in my youth. After my first session I came away absolutely buzzing, scoring goals again what a feeling but meeting new people and smiling again what an even better feeling.

Cheshunt has given me a sense of belonging being part of a team again as an older woman is incredible and has changed my life, I have made lots of new friends and I’ve even been lucky enough to meet my beautiful partner at the club.

After I hung my boots up from playing 11-a-side, I never thought I would be back playing the game I loved. I am so grateful to Cheshunt Walking Football Club for some incredible opportunities and experiences. I have visited 4 European countries, representing the club. I have enjoyed every minute of it and have met some wonderful people.

I joined CWWFC when I was at a low point in my life. For me the WF was an excellent way of getting fit but more importantly the support and camaraderie from the other ladies was outstanding. I have formed many friendships and attended trips away as well as supported the teams in competition. I am now on the committee so can still be involved even when not able to play. I would recommend to anyone.
